Rated 5 out of 5 by from CORE is great for my dogs As my two Golden Retrievers have aged, I moved them from original CORE to the reduced fat variety. I am extremely happy with this food, as I was with original CORE. My dogs love it, they don't have skin issues, their weight is very good and their overall health is great for their age. I have fed CORE to my dogs for many years through several generations of Golden Retrievers. I mix the dry with warm water and a small amount of CORE canned or home cooked meat or eggs to change up the protein base on occasion. I am a big fan of Grain-free foods and this one has worked for all of us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Dogs with digestive problems... My baby Diamond(7 year old Yorkie) was diagnosed with pancreatitis 2 years ago. Before that, he was always healthy. I've always fed him a good high quality kibble. But when he turned 5 he got really sick, he threw up blood and had really bloody stools. I freaked out and took him to the vet. His vet said it must've been something he ate. So he put him on antibiotics, nausea medication for a week, gave him an IV and sent us on our way. A few weeks later, same thing happened, and it was much worse than the first time. I rushed him to the Vet ER and thats where they found he had GI problems and his pancreatitis test came back inconclusive. Long story short, I started him on Wellness Core Reduced Fat, and thank God, it's been 2 years and he hasn't had any other pancreatic attacks. (Knock on wood) And another plus is that he really enjoys the taste. I DO NOT give him any treats or anything else besides his Omega3 chewy vitamin and his food. And he is a healthy, happy, fun loving little guy. Thank you WC because you have given my baby another chance at living...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wellness....the very best ! Wellness offers the very best pet food made. I have had my two sweet "Rescues" on the CORE or SIMPLE diets and both are excellent. Both Pups are (were) so healthy and their coats are like silk. On my second Pup Tybee, she came with a food allergy and after two weeks on the Wellness CORE reduced fat, it totally disappeared.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boxer has yeast infection after half way thru 2nd Hi, My Boxer has been eating Wellness for years now. She is 8 yrs old and for the past 4 yrs has been eating Complete Health Chicken Reduced fat. About 2 months ago I switched her to Core reduced fat and she is not even half way thru her 2nd bag and she has a yeast infection in her ears and on her skin underneath her body. This has been verified by a Vet thru a culture. The Core is the only thing that has been changed. Now i am searching for another food to switch her to. I want to keep her grain free, and I am very disappointed that I have so much food left that I paid $62.00 for that i will now be unable to feed her. She is my helper dog so it is very important to me that she is healthy and happy.

How to Transition

This food is formulated for adult, non-reproducing dogs over one year old as puppies and pregnant or nursing mothers have special nutritional requirements. It is important to slowly transition your dog from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5-7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness® each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness® CORE® by day 7.

CORE is highly palatable so your dog may tend to eat more of this food. Watch initially to see if you need to adjust regular eating patterns. Give your dog access to clean, cool fresh water at all times and feed Wellness® CORE® wet food in combination whenever possible, to increase the level of water in your dog's diet. Nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing, but be sure to give your dog plenty of love, exercise and see your veterinarian regularly!
